Random thoughts:
- It's hard to run against the wind
- How is it i was running against the wind throughout the run even though i was changing directions?
- My feet felt big (they are) and heavy
- I felt more of my flesh bouncing than i remember having. Oh ya. That's because i now have more flesh on me than i usually have
- I enjoy running the paths through my neighborhood and actually being "neighborly." Hi Folks! What a nice dog! That sort of thing.
- The neighborhood is coming out of its winter hibernation and that makes me very very happy
- You can always spot a Mormon. Saw a guy in a suit chatting with some neighbors on their porch and thought, "Mormon!" And when he turned around, yup, he's in my ward
- The same aches and pains are still there--you'd think that after 9 to 10 years of NOT running regularly and far that my right runner's knee issue would be healed but notsomuch.
- i'm now 34 (for another few weeks). The last time i was a "serious runner" i was 25 and training for a marathon with a bunch of people from the hospital. I guess i'm bound to have some aches and pains!
- i have since run in spurts, but usually pushing a double jogger
- it was really nice to be out ON MY OWN sans double jogger/children
- Do i call out "On your left!" like i would when cycling when passing a woman walking her dog?
- i need to drink more water
- Probably not a good idea to run after eating all of the Margarita Grilled Chicken with black beans and rice from Chili's and the delicious chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich Doug made me (homemade and divine)
- I really like running outside. Treadmills be damned
- I may change my tune on the above comment come November
- it feels really good to be back on the run, pumping my arms, moving my legs (even if at a plodding pace), breathing hard and working my body. Instead of just working my body around the bag of Oreos.
i love your random thoughts while running...of course, i'm focusing on the fact that doug made homemade chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich's...heavenly...good luck with the running!!
ReplyDeletevicki--yes, heavenly is the perfect word for them! can't wait for another one (or two or three) tomorrow!
ReplyDeletei'm jealous that you can run.
ReplyDeleteand that you can "not consistently work out" for years at a time and still manage to look fit and trim and... young (-ISH. i mean, as young as your "old Self" will allow you to look)!
wish i had better hips... i'd join you on a run if i could!
Clint JUST emailed me that "couch to 5k" program. I told him that once the kids start school in the fall, i am going to start running again :)
